Such a nice town. Days. I've lost count. Chattenooga Tennessee.

Sorry to say we only had one day in Chattenooga. But it is a lovely town nestled in the mountains on the Tennessee River. Parks were beautiful.
This bridge was erected in 1891 and closed to traffic in the 1970s. After a decade of disuse, someone had the truly brilliant idea of converting it to a footbridge. We met up with these folks from Georgia. They are Democrats ... Just sayin.

My favorite part of traveling is running into someone's passion project. Sometimes I just ask myself "why?" But I also have to admire the determination, time and skill an individual pours into a passion. Here are three examples from our last few days. Junkyard   www.lakenland.com --is a sculpture garden by laid off ironworker, former marine Ted Lakenland near Marquette MI. Back around 2003 his found object iron sculptures were whimsical. Then around  2015 they become more angry and political. He also did a cool MT Rushmore treatment of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and her team on honor of covid. The World of Accordions Museum www.worldofaccordions.org --  is where accordions get all kinds of respect.  In old church in Superior, WI Helmi Harrington displays her collection of 2300 concertinas, accordions, harmonicas from 1820 to ¹today.  She has spent her life performing, studying and cataloguing these instruments and at 75 years of age it's been her

Tired, Itchy and Hot. Days 55 to 60, Lake Catherine State Park, Hot Springs, AR.

Coal plant seen from campsite@ Lake Catherine State Park. Has absolutely nothing to do with this post. But rainbows and waterfalls are irresistible.  We are in a doldrum. Its 100°F every day.  The humidity's embracing us like a wet sweater. Both Keith and I picked up some kind of itchy toxin (mine was poison ivy). Keith thinks he was allergic to algae in the Buffalo River.  (Who knows.  It's as good a guess as any).  And we were go-go-going. Everything was so exciting. As a change of pace we are now in the middle of a 10-day stay at Lake Catherine State Park in Hot Springs; we have decided to keep our feet in Arkansas through Labor Day.  We'll go for short strolls, groom Django, read, and take it easy until we get bored.  Then we will maybe go for a swim once our itchies clear up.
